White Hat:
We learnt that deforestation is an ongoing issue all around the world and that
if deforestation continues then there will be no trees left by the year 2050.
We also learnt that the slash and burn method is the main cause of deforestation.
The most forests lost are in Africa (Comoros)Which lost about 60%,
the least amount of forests lost is in Oceania (Cambodia) which lost about 18% of forests.
6.4 million hectors of land in New Zealand is forests (24%). Deforestation did not start in
one place and it did not start by itself. Africa lost the most amount of forests in the world
between 1990 & 2005. Oceania lost the least amount of forests beteen 1990 & 2005.
Deforestation is a huge and devistating problem all around the world. Deforestation is
similar to transport because the deforestation machines and different ways of transport
both releases toxic gasses.
Black Hat:
If Deforestation is not stoped our world will be "treeless" by the next 50 years and if we dont
have any trees we can not survive because there will be no oxygen left for us to breath and
also all of the animals habitats will be destroied so there will be no animals left either,also if
deforestation is not stopped now our world will be brown, dusty and will have no people in it
because people need oxygen and trees provide oxygen.Deforestation is interfearing with animals
habitats and all animals who live in forests will soon be extenct.
Yellow Hat:There are no real good points for deforestation but we do get the benifit of getting
the wood to help us build our houses or buildings and if we had no wood to build houses we
wouldnt be able to keep dry and warm.The world has not come to an end from deforestation yet.
Red Hat: We feel that deforestation must be put to an end because we are "hearting" the enviroment
and we feel that deforestation is one of the main couses of climate change and pollition.
Green Hat: Some other ways that we can solve deforestation are not cutting down trees unless they are needed. (this will stop wood piling up in warehouses) When someone cuts down a tree they should plant 2 more. Some schools could plant a tree for each of there school houses (eg.Totra, rimu, mero and kowhi.)
Blue Hat: We have not done anything to stop deforestation yet but some ideas could be... *schools could plant a tree for each of there school houses (eg.totra,rimu,mero,kowhi.) *you could go on a day trip and plant some trees. *you could protest against deforestation.
